Go Dawgs!... I Mean Hogs

Guide Hank recounted last nights Wild Hog Hunting excursion where he led a group on a Successful Hunt. Despite facing multiple challenges, they managed to take down one Pig after taking several shots at a Sounder. It took some time for the Wild Hogs to move into a favorable position, allowing them to approach within 100 yards.

A humorous moment ensued when it appeared that one of the Wild Pigs, perhaps a fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, decided to pose for a quick picture session, borrowing a hat before the Hunters could claim their prize. Ultimately, they were able to Harvest The Pork they were after, for a Successful Hunt.

Hunting Wild Hogs

Guide Capt Clayton recounted an eventful Hunting Expedition from the previous night. Despite facing challenges during three unsuccessful Stalks, the perseverance paid off when they finally found themselves in position to take down three Wild Pigs. With precision and accuracy, the group successfully hit all three targets, but one of the Hogs managed to elude capture and flee into the woods.

Despite the setback, Guide Capt Clayton and the Hunting Party considered the night a success, filled with moments of excitement and glory as they navigated the Hunt. The thrill of the chase and the satisfaction of a successful hit made it another memorable night in the field for Pig Problem.

Do You Know What A Hog's Best Sense Is?

Photo: Big Boar @PigProblem

They encountered warm weather and shifting winds while Hunting. They managed to take down a Big Boar. However, there were a few instances where we were winded during our Stalks. For those who may not understand, being winded refers to a situation where the wind changes direction while we're approaching the Hogs, and they are able to pick up our scent. Unlike most animals, Wild Hogs don’t have night vision, their eyes are similar to humans. However, their sense of smell is incredibly strong and they can detect scents from miles away. Feral Hogs possess an extremely well developed sense of smell; in fact, smell is a Hog's best sense. They rely heavily on it to detect danger and seek out food. They can smell some odors 5-7 miles away and can detect odors as many as 25 feet underground!
