Nighttime Hog Hunting

Pig Problem

Hunting Report:

Battling the Elements & Bagging Hogs with Guide Hank

Night Hunting

At Pig Problem, we know every Hog Hunt is different—some nights are nonstop action, and others test your patience. But no matter what, we adapt, strategize, and make the most of every opportunity. Guide Hank just wrapped up a 2 Night Hog Hunt, and it was a prime example of how Unpredictable Hog Hunting can be.

Night 1:

Deer Everywhere, Pigs Nowhere

The first night started with promise—plenty of deer moving through the fields, but the Pigs were nowhere to be found. As the night went on, the reason became clear. A massive storm was rolling in, bringing heavy wind, rain, and lightning. Right before it hit, the fields went dead silent—no movement, no signs of life. The animals knew what was coming, and so did we. Instead of pushing our luck and getting soaked, we called it early, knowing we’d have another shot the next night.

Night 2:

Success in the Wind

Hog Hunting

The second night brought its own challenge—strong winds—but we weren’t about to let that stop us. After covering a lot of ground with little to show for it, we finally spotted a couple of Wild Pigs. Using the tree line for cover and staying out of the moonlight, we made a short stalk into range. A couple of well-placed shots later, we had our Hogs for the night.

Even though we checked several more fields without luck, the Wild Hog Hunt was still a success. That’s Hog Hunting for you—some nights are easy, others make you work for it. But with persistence, smart tactics, and a little patience, the payoff always comes.

Putting in the Work:

A Two-Night Hunt with Pig Problem

Not every Hunt is a nonstop shootout—but that’s what makes Hog Hunting so rewarding. Some nights, the Pigs are everywhere. Other nights, you have to work for every opportunity. That’s exactly what Guide Hank and his Hunters experienced on a recent 2 Night Thermal Hog Hunt with Pig Problem.

Night 1:

Hard Work Pays Off

The first night was slow, but that didn’t stop them. With persistence and a lot of walking, they finally got an opportunity—and made it count. One Hog Down, proving that sometimes success in the field comes from sheer determination. Wild Hogs are smart, constantly adapting to Hunting Pressure and changing their routines. When they don’t show up where you expect, you have to put in the miles, and that’s exactly what Hank and his Hog Hunters did.

Night 2:

The Wild Card of Hog Hunting

The second night, the Pigs stayed hidden. No fresh tracks, no movement—just an empty landscape under the Thermal Equipment. It’s easy to wonder why, but the reality is, Hogs don’t always play by the rules.

Wild Hogs are Nocturnal, but they don’t move the same way every night. Their patterns change based on weather, moon phase, food availability, and Hunting pressure. If they’ve been spooked recently, they’ll hole up in thick cover and wait until well past dawn to move. Other times, they’ll feed in a completely different area, miles away from where they were the night before. It’s what makes Thermal Hunting so unpredictable—and so exciting.

Even on slow nights, every Guided Hunt is a learning experience. Whether you’re Tracking Pigs, reading fresh sign, or just soaking in the thrill of the chase, there’s no such thing as a wasted night in the field. That’s why we do this—because every Night Hunt tells a story.

Wild Hogs On The Move

The Hunt That Almost Broke Clayton

Thermal Hog Hunting

Photo: Hunting Wild Hogs @PigProblem

Guiding Thermal Hog Hunts isn’t always easy. Some nights, everything lines up perfectly - Pigs are out in the open, stalks go smoothly, and Hunters rack up a Pile of Hogs with minimal effort. Other nights… well, they test your patience.

That’s exactly the kind of night Guide Clayton had on a recent Hog Hunt with three determined Hog Hunters. The Wild Pigs were out, but they weren’t exactly cooperating.

“Well well well, I failed four different stalks on pigs. Every time, they just walked back into the woods. It is the most frustrating thing to happen on a field stalk. I wanted to shave my eyebrows off and draw them back on to make me look angry all the time.”

If you’ve ever tried to creep up on a group of pigs in an open field, you know the feeling. One second, they’re feeding in the open, completely unaware. The next, they vanish into the treeline like ghosts.

But Clayton and his hunters weren’t about to give up. They kept pushing through the night, working field after field, waiting for their moment. Finally, at around 5 a.m., they spotted a Sounder. This time, there was no slipping away.

After 60+ rounds fired, the dust settled, and they had their hog.

Sometimes, Mother Nature throws one last curveball just to keep things interesting. As Clayton left the field, the sky opened up, hammering down rain so hard that he had to crawl home at 40 mph on Highway 19.

“I couldn’t see anything, but at least the hunting van is clean now.”

At the end of the day, no Wild Hog Hunt is ever the same, and that’s what makes it so damn fun. Whether it’s perfect stalks or a night full of frustration, every Hunting Trip is a story waiting to be told. And for these three hunters, they got to be part of a Hog Hunt that nearly drove their guide to altering his facial features in rage.

Hunting Pigs In Georgia

Pig Problem

Two Nights in Georgia with Guided by Capt Clayton

Hunting is unpredictable. Some nights, the Pigs are everywhere. Other nights, it’s just you, the fields, and the waiting game. This past 2 Night Thermal Hunt with Guide Capt Clayton had a little bit of everything - some frustration, some bad luck, and ultimately, a couple of successful shots.

Night One:

Wild Hog Hunting

Photo: One Hog Down @PigProblem

The first night out was slow. Real slow. Just one Wild Pig spotted all night long. A Coyote and a Possum crossed our path, but now they can’t do that anymore... The one Hog that did show up didn’t make it out either. Clayton wasn’t feeling his best, and by the end of the night, the only thing on my mind was hoping he wouldn’t wake up sick.

Night Two:

Guided Hog Hunting

Photo: Got Em @PigProblem

The Hog Hunt started with a different kind of loss - Guide Claytons $400 ear protection. After searching high and low, finally he found them… in the washing machine. So now, he gets to spend another $400 replacing something he already had. Gotta love it.

As for the Wild Hog Hunt, the Pigs weren’t exactly cooperative. Only one showed up on there side, and he was sound asleep when they found him. He didn’t stay that way for long. A quick wake-up call, and he was down for good. Meanwhile, the Thermal picked up a whole group of hogs in an orchard where they couldn't step foot. All we could do was watch as they did what Wild Hogs do best - eat and cause destruction.

Pigs In A Pecan Orchard

Now, back home, Peanut Protector Guide Capt Clayton was winding down with some YouTube gum videos, keeping him entertained, and calling it a wrap on another Thermal Hunt. Some nights are packed with action, others test your patience - but that’s the way it goes in the world of thermal hog hunting.

Thermal Predator Hunts

From Hogs to Predators

Pig Problem

Photo: Hunting Coyotes @PigProblem

At Pig Problem, Inc., we know that every Hog Hunt is a different adventure. Sometimes, the Hogs cooperate, and sometimes they seem to disappear into thin air. But no matter what, we make the most of every night in the field.

Guide Hank recently led a 1 Night Thermal Hog Hunt, and while the group didn’t get a chance to put a Wild Hog on the ground, they still had a successful night - because they managed to take down a Coyote instead! When the hogs go into hiding, Predator control becomes the next best target, and we’re always ready to adapt.

The Hunt That Turned Into a Predator Control Mission

Wild Hog Hunting is unpredictable. After the recent snowstorm, the Pigs have been acting strange - maybe the sudden weather shift threw them off their routine. One night they’re everywhere, and the next, they’re ghosts. That’s the challenge of Hunting Wild Hogs: you never know what the night will bring.

But that’s why we love it. Unlike sitting in a stand over a bait pile, our Guided Hunts are all about strategy, movement, and real-time decision-making. With Thermal Optics in hand, we cover ground, Scanning Fields and wood lines for Heat Signatures. On this Thermal Hunt, instead of spotting a Sounder of Hogs, the team locked onto the glowing shape of a Coyote creeping through the night.

Coyotes are another major problem for farmers and landowners, preying on livestock, deer fawns, and even pets. Taking one out is always a win in our book. So while the night didn’t end with a Hog Down, it was still a success.

The Thrill of the Spot-and-Stalk Thermal Hunt

What makes our Wild Hog Hunts so exciting is the way we do them. We don’t just sit in a stand and wait - we get out there and Hunt. Spot-and-stalk Thermal Hunting is an adrenaline rush from start to finish. Every Hunting Trip is different, every encounter is unique, and every Hunter leaves with a great story.

Hogs are tough to hunt, and sometimes, they just don’t show up. But that’s what makes it all the more rewarding when everything lines up, and we move in on a Sounder. That’s the kind of Guided Hog Hunt we’re looking forward to for these guys when they come back - we’re determined to put them on some Pigs!

Unforgettable Moments at Pig Problem:

A 2-Night Hog Hunt Experience

Photo: Best Hunting @PigProblem

Recently at Pig Problem, the excitement was palpable as Guide Hank and Guide Clayton welcomed back a spirited group of Amish Hunters for a thrilling 2 Night Hog Hunt. This dynamic duo brought their unique styles together, crafting an incredible experience filled with laughter, camaraderie, and some Unforgettable Hunting moments.

Night 1:

Guide Clayton's Encounter

Photo: Killers @PigProblem

On the first night, Guide Capt. Clayton enjoyed the warm company of the Amish Hunting Group, who returned partly due to Clay’s undeniable charm! With everyone eager to hit the fields, they set out on a quest for Wild Hogs. The evening started off with a Solo Hog—a single Dad Boar Hog with his little ones in tow. Despite the team’s best efforts, they could only manage to drop The Father Hog after what seemed like an eternity—eight rounds later, they finally brought him down.

Photo: Crazy Coyote Shot! @PigProblem

While the first part of the night presented its challenges, fortunes turned with the successful takedown of a Coyote lurking around 200 yards away, ending the evening on a high note.

Night 1:

Guide Hank's Adventure

Meanwhile, Guide Hank embarked on his segment of the Thermal Hog Hunt. After checking a few fields, he spotted a Sounder of Hogs and quickly rallied his group for a strategic stalk. However, a surprise distraction ensued when some leftover New Year’s fireworks sparked excitement in the air, startling the Pigs and sending them into hiding.

Not to be outdone, Guide Hank recalibrated his approach, returning to the same field where he had initially spotted the Sounder. Patience paid off when he spotted two Wild Pigs at the back. With teamwork and precision, they managed to drop both Hogs—a moment of pure triumph echoing through the group.

Night 2:

A Unified Group Experience

Photo: Pig Pile @PigProblem

For the second night, Guides Hank and Clayton made the brilliant decision to merge their groups, allowing everyone to Hog Hunt together as one cohesive family unit. No matter what anyone says about the Amish or the Mennonites, Guide Peanut Protector Capt Clayton has a special admiration for these resilient individuals.

Photo: Sausage For Days @PigProblem

His heartfelt reflections on the Amish reveal a deeper connection. These folks exude warmth, laughter, and a zest for life that is truly infectious. They embody the philosophy that relationships with those around us hold more value than material possessions. Their unwavering positivity and sense of humor provided a backdrop of joy that made every moment special.

“I may not say it or show it, but I would die and kill for any of you guys without hesitation. Best job I ever had,” said Clayton, encapsulating the camaraderie shared among the group.

Wild Hog Hunting

A Long Night Leads to Success

Photo: The Three Lil Piggies @PigProblem

Sometimes, patience and perseverance pay off in a big way, and that’s exactly what happened on a recent Hog Hunt led by our very own Guide Hank.

Hank took a group of three Hunters on a thrilling 1 Night Hog Hunt. The night started off quiet—really quiet. For hours, the team scoured the fields with no sign of Wild Hogs. But in true Hunting fashion, the tide turned in the early hours of the morning.

At 2:40 a.m., the moment they’d been waiting for finally arrived—a Sounder of Hogs appeared in the field. The adrenaline kicked in as Hank helped the group set up quickly and efficiently. Once in position, they opened fire, putting multiple rounds into several Pigs. The teamwork and quick action paid off, as they managed to bring down three Hogs before calling it a night.

It was a long Wild Hog Hunt, but the reward made it all worthwhile. We hope this group had as much fun as we did guiding them through the South Georgia fields, and we can’t wait to see them back for more Thermal Hunting Adventures!
