Every Hog Hunt is different, and sometimes the Pigs make you work for it. This past Hunting Trip was a 2 Night Hog Hunt with a group of Bear Guides from Maine. The first night was slow, with no Wild Pigs down. But on the second night, things got interesting.

Night One:

Plenty of Ground, No Pigs Down

The first night, we covered a lot of ground but didn’t get the results we were hoping for. That’s just how it goes sometimes—Wild Hogs are unpredictable, and they can disappear when you least expect it. But even without any Hogs on the ground, it was still a good night in the field, and the guys had plenty of stories to share about Guiding Bear hunts in Maine.

Night Two:

The Sounder Appears

The second night, luck turned in our favor. We spotted a Sounder of about 20 to 30 Hogs and made our approach. Moving carefully with the wind right, we closed in to about 100 yards before the Hunters took their shots. Two Wild Hogs went down, though one was just a Small Piglet—not exactly ideal for a trophy photo.

Hunting and Swapping Stories

Even when the Feral Hogs aren’t flooding the fields, the best part of these Thermal Hunts is the experience. These guys were Seasoned Hunters, and it was great to hear all about Bear Hunting up north—how they track and bait, the thrill of a close encounter, and the challenges of guiding in deep woods. The highlight of the night was the sheer resilience of one particular Hog. “This pig took like nine rounds and a couple more with a rifle from 10 feet away and was still trying to get up,” Clayton said. “I want to have the same resilience that some of these pigs can have. It is absolutely amazing to see how mentally and physically tough an animal can be when it wants to live. They have a why so they can survive any how.”

Wild Hogs are notorious for their toughness, but every now and then, we come across one that reminds us just how relentless nature can be.

As every Hunter knows, success isn’t guaranteed. After the action of the first night, night two was a different story. The Pigs were nowhere to be found. In an exhilarating Night of Hunting, Guide Captian Guide Captian Clayton led a team on their quest for Wild Pigs, showcasing the thrill and challenges of Hog Hunting. The evening began with an early start, where the Hunters quickly got on the trail of their quarry. After a long and strategic stalk, it became evident that the Pigs were aware of their presence and made their way into the trees.

As the night continued, the team’s perseverance paid off. Around 1 a.m., they spotted another group of Wild Hogs, leading to a successful culmination of their Hog Hunt. In a display of skill and teamwork, they managed to take down three Hogs before the night's excitement wound down. Despite their efforts, no additional Pigs were sighted for the remainder of the night, and the Hog Hunters decided to wrap things up at 2 a.m.

Thermal Hog Hunt Report: Guide Kevin Leads Successful Nighttime Adventure

Pig Problem's Thermal Hog Hunt, led by Guide Kevin, recently wrapped up a thrilling and challenging night Hog Hunt that tested the skills of our Hog Hunters. Under the cover of darkness, our team embarked on a 10-hour Hunting Adventure from 7pm to 5am, utilizing the latest thermal imaging technology to track down their elusive targets.

The night was filled with excitement as our team stumbled upon a Massive Sounder of approximately 18 Wild Hogs, presenting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take down these Cunning Creatures. Despite the difficulty of Hunting moving targets, Guide Kevin and his team remained focused and determined.

After a well-placed shot, the team managed to take down one impressive Hog, a testament to their skill and expertise. However, it's worth noting that Hunting Wild Hogs is an extremely challenging endeavor, requiring precision, patience, and repeated practice.

As Guide Kevin pointed out, "Hunting Wild Hogs is not for the faint of heart. It's a rare individual who can hit a target that's running 15 miles per hour and stands only 3 feet tall." The Hunt is truly a test of skill and endurance, making it all the more satisfying when a successful kill is achieved.

Guide Capt Max led Dan and Karl on a Thermal Hog Hunt at Pig Problem. The night started slow, but after midnight, it seemed as if all Hogs in South Georgia was out and about. Throughout the night, the Hunters took down three Hogs, each shot bringing them closer to their Hunting Goals.

Capt Max was grateful for Dan and Karl choosing to come back to Americus, Ga for another Hog Hunting Adventure with his team. He guided them through the fields, carefully positioning them to take aim and fire at their targets.

Dan and Karl were thrilled with their Successful Hunt, amazed at the Abundance of Hogs in the area. They thanked Capt Max and his team for the fantastic experience and promised to return for more Thrilling Hunts in the future.
