Hog Hunting is never predictable, and no nights in the field are ever the same. Recently, Guide Clayton led a 3-Night Hog Hunt that proved just how unpredictable—and exciting—Chasing Wild Hogs can be.

Night 1:

A Momma and Her Piglets

The first night started off with some action. A Lone Sow and her litter of Piglets made the mistake of stepping into the Hunters’ sights. The team quickly took down the mother, but the Piglets, small and fast, scattered into the brush. Shots were fired, but those little ones proved tough to hit. While none of them dropped, the night was far from uneventful.

Night 2:

The second night delivered exactly what every Hog Hunter hopes for—a Sounder moving through the fields. The hunters wasted no time and managed to take down 3 Wild Pigs, adding to the success of the Hunting Trip. CJ and Noah, feeling the adrenaline, decided to get up close for a more personal picture with their harvest. Excitement was high, and the night was a solid win for the team.

Night 3:

The Silent Fields

Thermal Hog Hunting isn’t always action-packed, and the third night was a reminder of that. Despite covering miles of ground, checking every hot spot, and staying out as long as possible, not a single Hog showed itself. Some nights, the Pigs just don’t cooperate, and this was one of those times. But as every Seasoned Hunter knows, persistence is key—because the next night could bring a Field Full of Hogs.

Every Hog Hunt is different, and this 2 Night Hunting Trip with Guide Zev was no exception. With a mix of long Hunting Stalks, Predator Control, and First-Time Hunters eager to learn, it was an exciting couple of nights in the fields.

Night 1:

A Strong Start with Hogs and Coyotes

The hunt started off strong, dropping a coyote in the very first field. A promising sign of the action to come.

Later in the night, the group spotted a Single Hog at 850 yards. Rather than rushing in, they took a slow, methodical stalk to close the distance. When they finally got into position, the shot was perfect, and the Hog Dropped where it stood.

A second opportunity came at a spot near Preston. Another single hog presented itself, and they took the shot—but this one wasn’t as clean. The hog got back up and managed to escape into the darkness. It happens, but the thrill of the hunt was still there.

Night 2:

No Pigs, But Plenty of Excitemen

The same group was back for round two, and Zev quickly realized these were some of the easiest Hunters to guide. They were super chill, excited about everything, and willing to listen and learn.

While the Wild Pigs didn’t cooperate, the night still had plenty of action. A Coyote went down, and they even took a shot at a beaver, keeping things interesting. For hunters with almost no experience—barely even handling guns before this Hunting Trip—they followed every instruction perfectly. Zev had nothing but praise for them, saying, “I love these guys.”

Hog Hunting is always unpredictable, and every Thermal Hunt tells a different story. Some nights, we cover miles scanning field after field, while others, the action starts right away. That was the case on a recent 1 Night Hog Hunt led by Guide Clayton, where the first field we checked turned out to be the only one we needed.

Our group rolled out at sunset, ready for a night of Thermal Hog Hunting. It didn’t take long to find what we were looking for. As we pulled up to the first field, a Lone Hog stepped out about 200 yards from the van—a perfect setup. With pew pews dialed in and everyone in position, the Hunter took his shot. A clean hit Dropped the Hog right where it stood, making for a quick and Ethical Harvest.

Though the night was quiet after that first successful shot, the team was in good spirits. Sometimes, all it takes is one well-placed shot to make the Hunting Trip a success. Another Guided Hog Hunt in the books, another story to tell, and another Wild Hog taken off the land.

Guide Hank recently led a 1 Night Thermal Hog Hunt, and while the group didn’t get a chance to put a Wild Hog on the ground, they still had a successful night - because they managed to take down a Coyote instead! When the hogs go into hiding, Predator control becomes the next best target, and we’re always ready to adapt.

The Hunt That Turned Into a Predator Control Mission

Wild Hog Hunting is unpredictable. After the recent snowstorm, the Pigs have been acting strange - maybe the sudden weather shift threw them off their routine. One night they’re everywhere, and the next, they’re ghosts. That’s the challenge of Hunting Wild Hogs: you never know what the night will bring.

But that’s why we love it. Unlike sitting in a stand over a bait pile, our Guided Hunts are all about strategy, movement, and real-time decision-making. With Thermal Optics in hand, we cover ground, Scanning Fields and wood lines for Heat Signatures. Coyotes are another major problem for farmers and landowners, preying on livestock, deer fawns, and even pets. Taking one out is always a win in our book. So while the night didn’t end with a Hog Down, it was still a success.

Recently, a group of four eager Hunters joined Guide Hank for a 1 Night Hog Hunt that showcased the thrill of the chase, even when the night unfolded a bit differently than expected.

A Slow Start Turns Into Success

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the team set off to a field in Albany Ga, their hearts filled with anticipation. The atmosphere was electrifying, yet the Hunting conditions proved to be a bit slow that night. However, the group remained undeterred and focused on the task at hand.

After a patient wait, their perseverance paid off when they spotted 3 Pigs. With adrenaline pumping, the team sprang into action. In an impressive display of marksmanship, one Hog Hunter successfully took down a Wild Pig on the run from a remarkable distance of 200 yards. The satisfaction of securing that first catch set the tone for the rest of the night.

Another Hog fell shortly thereafter, with the team locating it in the woods, bringing their count to two before midnight. The sense of accomplishment among the Boar Hunters was palpable as they celebrated their success, emphasizing that even in the slow moments, there are reasons to be joyful.

After midnight, as they resumed their search, the night remained quiet. While the team didn’t encounter any additional Wild Hogs as they made their way back to Americus Ga, the camaraderie amongst the group never waned. They reminisced about the shots fired, shared techniques, and laughed over the unpredictability of Wild Hog Hunting.

The lesson learned was clear: in the world of Thermal Hunting, sometimes progress is measured not by how many Hogs are taken but by the experiences shared and the memories created. A “slow” night didn’t mean a “bad” night. Instead, it reinforced the old adage that a great time can be had when you’re outdoors with friends, regardless of the outcome.

Guided by our experienced team, Kevin helped the Hog Hunters quickly adapted to the techniques of Thermal Hog Hunting. Their focus and determination paid off when they successfully took down not one, but two Wild Hogs during their Hunt! It was a perfect demonstration of teamwork, skill, and a little good fortune.

At Pig Problem, we had the distinct pleasure of hosting a memorable retirement celebration for Chris and Scott, who traveled down south to Americus, GA, for an exciting night of Hog Hunting. Led by our esteemed Guide Capt Max, this adventure was not just a Hunting Trip; it was a celebration of years of hard work and friendship.

As the sun set over the beautiful Georgia landscape, Chris and Scott geared up for some Thrilling Thermal Hog Hunting. The night was filled with camaraderie and excitement as the group set out into the darkness, eager to encounter the elusive Wild Boars that roam the area.

It didn’t take long for the Hunters to spot their first Sounder. With keen eyes and the advantage of thermal optics, they navigated the terrain in search of their quarry. The thrill of Night Hunting is unmatched, and with two distinct Groups of Hogs observed during their adventure, the tension was palpable. While only one Boar was ultimately brought down, the encounters with two different Sounders made for an exhilarating night under the stars.

We are grateful for the trust Chris and Scott placed in us to celebrate such a significant milestone in their lives. Guide Capt Max took a father and son on a 1 night hog hunt at Pig Problem. It turned out to be the farthest Stalk he had ever done. Ben and Jeff, the son and father duo, worked diligently to Take Down The Hogs. The group had to regroup and rethink their angles to ensure successful shots. After some strategy adjustments, they finally managed to get on the Big Sounder and successfully took down 3 Wild Hogs. Guide Capt Max found this Hunt to be extremely rewarding and was thrilled with its success.
